So as you all know, I had a WTB 996 thread. I found a 996 who I have been in the talks with since December and we are working together to see if we can make a deal happen.

Since then, the boss gave the OK on increasing the budget in hopes that I can find a nice 997.

Budget is $65K. Looking for black on black car but willing to consider other colors (blue, grey, etc.) so long as they aren't bright (yellow, red, etc.).

997.1 Coupe and 6 speed only

If I don't end up finding one, then I'll end up with the 996. Can't go wrong with either!

No, the 996 is in Canada. I stopped looking at Dennis' car after people said the mods he said he had weren't true.

Ha ha starting to soften on the importing stance? Or will you just be repatriating one of our own? It is funny because my search has mirrored yours. Start looking at 40k to (maybe) 50k turbo. Hmmm.... seems hard to find a good example. Ok, lets look at a 997tt now. I am still looking. The hard part is finding anything remotely close for a reasonable price. Especially in Denver. BTW Rennlist has a 997 thread for good deals on cars nationwide. Every once in a while one is a TT.

Haha, I wouldn't say I've "soften" on the importing stance. I've always liked the 997 but the budget was set at a price I can get a well put together 996.

Now all of a sudden, the wife says "get what you want" so the 997 becomes an option now in my search but as you said, searching for one close by with what you want in the right price range is a challenge.

Also have you cosidered a 996 GT3? Have to assume there isnt much downside in these cars for resale anytime soon and they are as fun as the 996tt or more depending on who you talk to.

Your money can either get you a very well sorted 996 turbo that needs nothing and has all the mods done you want with $$$ left over, or it's going to get you a middle of the road 997tt that will no doubt have little done to it and will need maintenance/work to make it on par with what you're looking for.

$65k is not a lot for a nice 997 tt.

Just for example I almost recently bought a 997 turbo for 68k that was 2007, black/black 6 speed with 11k miles and was in BAD shape (oil leaks, repaint, etc.)

That's a nice car, but looks 100% stock. OP needs to decide. He was originally looking for a modded 996. If he wants to mod the car it will get expensive quick. That 997 is still a 10 year old car that will no doubt need maintenance. P cars are not cheap by any means.

A little higher than your budget (due to miles), but thought I'd throw it out there..

I have a 2007 6spd clean blk/blk for $75k. Has 17,xxx miles. No bad over-revs. Stock except for an FVD exhaust. If you're interested, let me know and I'll give more details.

$65K may not get you all the way there to what you want as others have cited, but you may get lucky.

I paid $74K for mine last year, and it came sorted with the mods. It also had over-revs but were long ago and car passed ppi's otherwise.

Yes, that is going to be something I'll need to take into consideration. The search will be longer to find something nice for $65K on a 997.

Looks like that one got sold already. Listing was removed, but I saw it. So far, the list of cars I've seen are the following (all black/black 6 speed)

- 2007 with 50k miles with springs, gt2rs rear sway, billet shifter, catted kline exhaust - $68,850
- 2007 with 58k miles with new clutch/flywheel - $64,950
- 2007 with 69k miles with exhaust, headers, tune - $58,500
- 2007 with 76k miles - $63K

Exactly, as you can see the examples above, there are "samples" of a $65K car but the ones I've listed aren't the best. That one in Arizona was pretty good for the price.
