WTB: new Z06 without markup, help
Located in land of wishful thinking
Maybe during this winter you will be able to find one, but I haven't heard of any yet.
Here is a link that allows you to do a search...most are still at least 3k over unless you are willing to wait until next year.

What color/options are you looking for? I have a fully loaded yellow on black coming within the next month.
A week or two ago, the dealer contacted me and wanted me to pay for the car now. No way on my behalf - I can't buy a car without seeing/driving it. They said if I changed my mind to give them a call and I could still have that allocation. If you want it, let me know and I'll see if something can be worked out.

They are out there, you just have to keep your ear to the ground. check www.corvetteforum.com plenty of info there.
Are these new Z06 that popular that they are still commanding over MSRP?
Wow that gives Chevy a lot of credit for building such a good car that they can command over sticker for them! I remember the T-Bird that came out a few years ago and they tried to get $15k over sticker....YAH RIGHT!
Have any of you driven a new Z06 - opinions, impressions?
I guess that says a lot for Porsche willing to keep the GT3 at sticker prices since I have yet to hear of any over sticker cars being sold....

Z06 Impressions (vs. GT2)

Power: Peak acceleration on both cars was roughly equal with the wide powerband giving the Z06 an overall edge. Bear in mind that I live at ~6000 ft elevation where turbocharged cars have a significant advantage over normally aspirated ones. Boost on the GT2 peaked at 1.0 bar during full throttle blasts in 3rd gear so I estimated that the power loss should be no greater than ~10% compared to an easy 20-21% for the NA LS7 V8.
Gearing: Prior to my test drive, the gearing on the Z06 was one of my main concerns but the torque band is so wide that this may well be the car's forte! For instance, a 20-60 mph on-ramp scoot can be dispatched entirely in 1st gear; likewise a 90-125 highway blast is all 3rd while both situations require a shift in the GT2 to fully exploit the engine. The GT2's short gearing, in contrast, keeps every WOT blast a scenery blurring experience that you simply can't wait to repeat in the next gear!
Handling: All those (yours truly included) who deem the 996 Turbo too benign and soft in the suspension dept, will instantaneously love the GT2. What the Turbo also lacks in steering feel, the GT2 makes up in copious quantities. Yet, the lack of PSM (blame my Turbo background for that!) made me very wary of that rear end and I just wasn't comfortable pushing this beast around corners on public streets (I do want to buy one, just not one that I wrap around a telephone pole!). The Z06 on the other hand has an active handling system that, in competitive driving mode, allows a good measure of oversteer before it reigns the backend in. The rear also slides smootly and effortlessly which, if you're comfortable with, makes even the slowest corner a treat!
All in all, a fun experience in two amazing cars that deliver equal thrills, yet in such diversely disparate manner!
