wanted to buy an 05 997 (S) coupe from a private owner

Looking for a 997 (S) coupe from a private (original owner). Willing to pay private transaction KBB value. Must be a 6sp. Must have all the maintenance up to date (it will have to pass a certification process). No nav is a plus. [Nixon] I'm not a crook, have utter confidence [/nixon]. This transaction will be handled with your Porsche dealer. They will buy it from you, certify it and then sell it to me.

Obviously, the close is the car to TX the be better!

Hey Peter,
I recognize you from the Corvette Forums. Are you selling the 2003 Z06?

Good luck in finding a 997S (seriously).

So, far I indent to keep it. I was saving for a C6Z, but decided that two sports cars are better than one

I think the sarcasm is due to the fact that if you pay the dealership private party kbb, the original owner is going to be left with something less than wholesale by the time the dealer takes their profit and $$ for certification.

You misunderstood me. I will pay the KBB private value to the owner. I will pay the dealer for the certification process.

But I think what everyone is saying, is that the dealer is going to want to mark the car up because they will have to log the car into their inventory so that it can be certified. The dealer isn't going to buy the car for KBB private party and then just charge you a nominal fee for the certification. I actually tried this about 4 months ago with a MB dealer that I had already bought 2 previous cars from, and they flat out wouldn't even do it....for any fee.

Peter - Are you looking to pay KBB or a steal? I might have a lead on one. Its not on Maui but in Arizona.

Hmm ,guess that is different from a dealer to dealer. My local dealer offered an in-out-CPO service for a "car under warranty/upto date service" for $5K. Figure, it will cost them $1.5K to get a CPO status, the rest of profit!

Peterk,

If you payed KBB private party plus 5k to dealer for certification that would be a horrible deal. Maybe I misunderstood. Anyways there are plenty on ebay and autotrader so you should not have a problem.

for an extra $5k, why not just buy a certified preowned 997. I'm sure there are plenty of clean ones...especially if you're looking throughout the country.

I think PeterK should have just named the thread "I am looking to steal your Porsche". There are people posting here about deals and he's not responding. Just my 2 cents.

Peter - although you may have good intentions, the way you are coming across is not so flattering - maybe it's a dialect or cultural thing? I don't know but your demeanor makes it seem that someone would be lucky or fortunate enough to sell his car to you but there are strict guidelines

i'd restart and see if anybody has a car available that is to your liking and then see if you can work some deal about including a dealer to get certified
