computer with GIAC flash for 997 TT

Factory Porsche computer that has been flashed by IA motorsports. Put your stock one on the shelf and enjoy the extra power from this one. Its awesome power!!! If you need to go to the dealer just put your stock one back in and you are set. No worries about warranty. Flash was $3495 and computer was $1295 new. Will sell for $3495.00.. Unit is 8 months old.

I thought GIAC flashes use your vin so your chip won't function properly in another car.

That's what I was thinking. I am interested but don't want to take the plunge unless 100% sure they are interchangeable.

I will find out on Monday. If I remember right I just bought a blank computer and sent it to Stephen at IA Motorsports and he sent it back. I know he tested it in his personal car before he sent it back so the VIN must not be that important. I will call Stephen on Monday.

Spoke with IA motorsports and there is a code that need to be changed to match your car. They charge and hours labor and its no big deal.

Hmmm, that's interesting. They charged me 3100 just to change mine from my 997tt to the 997tt cab. We need someone from IA in here to explain this.

I believe this was the phone call I personally fielded this morning and if so there is some confusion - In order to RE-USE your ECU in someone elses car, the immobilizer code has to be reset to match their vin... This allows you to use that computer in their car, however in the process of reseting it you will also lose the GIAC tuning... Meaning the ECU will be stock. Every flash corresponds to that particular VIN... In order to "Sell" the flash portion, they would have to pay the full retail price of the flash... simply how the GIAC flashes work... One per car and it comes straight from them.

In order to use this computer in someone else car they would have to reset the immobilizer code (the part that takes about an hour of labor)... And then if they wanted it Flashed, they'd need to pay for another Flash from GIAC.

There seems to be some confusion here. I guess I will be selling a computer that someone can get there own flash done. So how much is the blank computer worth?? $900.00

Thanks for clearing that up.

Please review my pm to Stephen this morning and make the adjustment on my credit card. Someone there charged me $550 more than the quoted price.

Thanks!

Jamie... I didn't "quote" a price either way, simply tried to explain the process as to how the ECU could be used in another car- Stephen...and only Stephen... handles the Flashes and sets immobilizer codes. Zman called with a broad question as to how the ECU's work when moving from one car to another. I explained this as best I could and we did not discuss pricing on the swap, for that you would need to talk directly with Stephen as only he knows the process in detail.
