WTB: 996TT ECU / DME unit

Category: Accessories
Price: $0
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits: Porsche 911 996 Turbo
Location (State): WA
Item Condition: Brand New

Need to replace my DME for tuning (current one is 2001 and has a "piggy back" chip).

Does anyone have an ECU / DME for a 996 Turbo (manual) they are looking to get rid of? (part# 99661860601).

Appreciate any info or help!

Thanks,
-Matt

send it to todd at protomotive . he can likely remove and tune it in 1 fell swoop

be aware the immobilizer is tied to the vin and ecu. change the ecu you will have to have the immobilizer either changed or replaced with matching unit

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give him a ring this week. Also appreciate the info you've shared throughout the forum. I've read a lot of your posts while reading through topics here.

Btw, saw one where you knew someone who had an ECU to swap but didn't have the VIN, so they couldn't use it. Isn't it possible for a dealer to just find/read the VIN on any ECU if they hook it up to their system? (system info or something like that on PWIIS)

im noot sure. i b ought a used dme when i was told mine was toast. the tuner then reset all the vin # to the new unit. in the end i didnt need it and sold the original unit. typically dealers dont mess with this tyope of stuff. easier to sell you a new one and code it for the car. 3000$ +
