schnazzy is infamous around these parts
Side note here: The KN cold air for the 996 C2 is now a "drycharger". Call VividRacing, thats where I got mine a couple weeks ago. No oil so no MAF failures.

Schnazzy: the MAF failuures have apparently been traced back to electrical current issues, not the oil (something about too much air volume). Will see what happens.

Rob: thanks for the lead, but import duties and shipping would kill me. I need it from the States, preferably used.

Yeap, I have heard very good comments on the K&N and equally bad comments on the K&N. More of the negative comments concentrate on the pre 02 cars (which is what I currently own), hence me wanting to save some cash by buying a used one in case I would also need to replace the MAF.

Well I have a 2003, I put a bit more than 1000 miles on it so far. These miles included city, highway, autocross/track. from 0-130+mph. Rain, high humitity, 50's-80's in temp. I also have 2 pcar friends with k/n (both oil based) neither have had MAF problems. GOB thanks for the info though.

I don't think a blown MAF is related to the K&N as I have a 99 996 with a blown MAF with stock intake. I am assuming people blow their MAF and blames it on K&N.
