2007 GTC with 2006 DVD Nav - Will a 2010 DVD work?
SubscribeJust purchased a 2007 GTC. It has the 2006 Satellite Navigation DVD-ROM 2006 in it. Would like to update the DVD. Found a 2010 DVD but I'm not sure if it will be read by my 2007 DVD reader.
Has anyone upgraded their 2007, and if so, what was the secret handshake?

2010 should work fine. The disc simply holds street/etc DATA that the Nav DVD computer program reads. This is why those of us with the the older CD system can easily upgrade to the BMW 2011 CDs.
Sold the 2007 GTC when we thought we were moving off shore.
Staying here and just bought a 2007 GT Millinar - beautiful but has original Nav disc in it.
What is the latest disc that I can put in it and who is a good source, at a reasonable price, to secure it from?
Thanks

The newest is the BMW 2013 DVD NAV discs. Any BMW dealer will have them or can get them.
I just bought a new disc but could not get it in. I will have to take the unit out and get the driver fixed.????? That is what i am told.

DrD, weird as I have an early model 2007 GTC and it worked fine. Maybe during service the tech forgot to update your system? Weird it has to come out as usually firmware update is done by inserting a special CD/DVD (with perhaps a few clicks/buttons pushing to initialize the firmware update).

When the car was at the shop the manager handed me the CD and I asked him to put it in as I could not remove the old one. He looked at me like I was some kind of moron(could be?) and said ok. Laugh was on him because they could not get it to work either. He told me he would have the device removed next time i was in and he would send it off to some radio shop to fix. Est cost was under $200.Originally Posted by enjoythemusic

Flying down to Tampa today to pick up the 2007 GT, 17K miles on it.
Weeee bit excited to see it and then do the drive back home to NC.
Will pop, hopefully, the Nav disc and see what is actually on it and confirm if it's a DVD or CD.
Then the pilgrimage starts to update nav and probably the firmware.
