Bentley Dealer

Steven

Spent a few hours at my Bentley Dealer the other day (San Francisco).
First they told me the key less entry ran 420 plus tax USD, and another labor charge of 200 USD for programing it with there laptop.

Oh by the way my GT 05 does have a place for the key, also when I hold the key one way all the windows open at the same time.pix attached.

Second they explained how to jack the car up using a floor jack. Using the same 4 points shown in the shop manual. After putting it in jack mode, put a 2x6 with a rubber inner tub or carpet on the 2x6 where it rest to under the car, then jack it up on the point then place the jack stand under the wood. Sounds logical, any comments?

Third remember I asked about the ECU chip for around 80 USD? Well it turned out they had some experience with them. It did more harm to the car than good. They did recommend a suppler that well take our existing ECU chip reprogram it and give me up to 3 MPG and up to 650HP for a mere 2000 USD. I would like them to just send me a replacement so I can keep my own, ha...for 5000 USD do not need it at this point.

Fourth to replace my tire monitors, rebalace my wheels and reprogram the car, 900 USD.

Fifth to reprogram the car so that the warning 20 k service now does not come up and he also said he had to do a lot of other adjustment, 200 USD.

Total cost to install and supply tire moniters, reprogram the car for 20k warning, monitors, key less entry all at one time came to1300 USD, plus 420 USD for the key less entry.
My feeling about the combo price doing the work all one time was reasonable for San Fran, what do you think?

Happy Holidays
bob

Seems like full MSRP on the keyless hardware... programming i have NO direct experience how hard or easy it may be though my tech said it was not easy.

Jacking sequence sounds logical.

Third remember I asked about the ECU chip...
The car quite fast without the need for mods imho... unless u plan to track it a lot and want to possibly shave off tenths of seconds (perhaps more) per lap.

Factory Bentley monitors are around $110 each as i recall. R/R tires, probably around $200 total. Set the car to the new psi, free via the menu on the larger center screen in front of the shifter. (so $640 total)

Fifth to reprogram the car so that the warning 20 k service now does not come up and he also said he had to do a lot of other adjustment, 200 USD.
Free to reset the service light, the other items could be ???? so $200 is what it is.

As for overall price, i tend to do a lot of work myself so that hands off factory servicing. Yeah, my service guy told me adding a key is a bit involved due to 'security' issues and so it might indeed be involved to thwart theft/rogue employees/etc. All in all your package deal in in the right ballpark. Check the DIY thread as i posted how to reset the Service light. Hope this helps.

Bob, be careful about BMC. Their tend to rip you off by charging for work not done. I would look into an Independent, DIY or go to Los Gatos. Prices at Los Gatos have gone up since it's owned by BMC for last 2 years. However, they are more honest. Be happy to share with you details in private.
