I also found that the tip on the end of the dipstick has broken off. Since this was a new one according to the owner, instead of just replacing it again, I decided to just make another one using a 5mm steel spiral wound flex-shaft from a model boat. The flex shaft was way longer than the dipstick, and I could push it down the dipstick tube all the way down until it hit the bottom of the sump. I can only conclude the my dipstick tube has a hole in the bottom. I cut the shaft to 70mm longer than the broken dipstick, and will only use it to measure the oil level, and keep the original dipstick in place unless I am checking the oil level.
