V W Service

:

HI DIYers

Took the GT to V W for a oil and filter change.

They lubed, topped off all fluids, air pressures, wanted to wash but I said thank you no thanks. all for 97$ for labor. Almost makes me want to buy V W.

Oh by the way the oil filter I bought from San Francisco Bentley cost me 48$ it had a V W part along with the part # on the filter (07C115561D) in the Bentley box. The parts tech said there cost was 15.78 and he would sell it to me for 19.58 not bad.

It even got better the service manager is a car guy and also owns a Phaeton with the W 12 engine. He went on to say there was a few more things that they can work on so give him a call before going to the dealer.

No Tool Needed reset service now

Has anyone tried this on an 05 gt?

Resetting Service Light
1. Ensure the ignition is switched off.
2. Hold down the trip button.
3. Switch the ignition on and release the trip button.
4. A message appears in the DIP with the wording SERVICE RESET .
5. Press the OK button on the steering wheel.
6. The message will now disappear.
7. To check the procedure has worked correctly. Switch the ignition off, switch the ignition back on again. The service warning light should have disappeared.

This worked for me what last night and it worked for a couple others.
Some thread posters do have a problems.

I did one Gray area # one & two. What I did was hold down the trip button then put the key in the ignition switch, switched on then released the trip button. hope this helps.

I have a friend in Hayward that told me if I needed someone to work on the car, he knows of some one. I could check with him if you need so.

Also the gentleman (Goshen) that owns E C U Tuning in Fremont when I talked to him to change out my 2 ecu's to boost the HP to 650 also said he was going to start servicing them.

Try the instruction first

Sort of disturbs me to see this kind of thread. Not you fellows on here but the dealerships charging what they do. If I drive a Bentley does that infer that I am stupid with more money than I need, please take if from me?

I may have to approach the local VW shop for future service.

Does this mean a normal VAGCOM from Rosstech will work on the GT without any issues or does one really require the VAS5052 system?

Thanks

i was told by the Bentley service guys that while the Beltey software might have a few unique bits in their software, that overall the Rosstech Vag Com actually can do more things.

Correct. Best tool available and the price is more than fair for what it does
