....the part that is puzzling is that an authorized dealer apparently did a major engine out warranty repair, so there is a full record. The record is tied to the vin number of the subject car along with the mileage on the subject car. It is hard to understand how an authorized dealer could, at a later date sell that car with its unique vin number but different service history....do I understand correctly the events...JimB

Yes Bentley Sydney, the only authorised Bentley dealership in N.S.W serviced the car and carried out all the repairs and yes that should all be on record tied to the vin and mileage of the car.
The car was sold to a luxury car dealer in Melbourne who was NOT an authorised dealer, 3 years ago.
The same car is again now for sale through ANOTHER dealership in Melbourne also NOT an authorised Bentley dealer with less mileage than when I sold it.
Bentley Sydney an authorised dealer SHOULD have an accurate service history for this car.
THEY DO NOT, the service history for this car has been greatly and fraudulently altered at some stage.

....was the 2008GTC used when you bought it and if so what was mileage on car...did you buy from B dealer...the advertisement indicates 65,589KM...how much mileage when work was done and how much when you sold car...JimB...what indication do you have that the authorized dealer does not currently have correct record...

....given the information you have provided it is very possible the subject car wound up back in the inventory of the B dealership, various dealers do regularly wholesale cars among themselves....if the car is still on the road, the present owner is the injured party due to incorrect history...it is hard to imagine the circumstances where a legitimate B dealership who did major warranty work on a car would be complicit in altering the car's history....

I will say this, Bentley in Melbourne have no service history on the car, I checked.
I was the second owner and purchased the car with very low ks.
It was not purchased from Bentley by me only serviced there.
Yes you are correct in saying its hard to imagine that Bentley Sydney would alter the service history in such a manner.
All I can say is, when I contacted Bentley Sydney and asked them to check the history against the vin it was nothing similar to what it should have been.
I know for a fact the car has had at least 3 owners including myself I also know the mileage indicated now is lower than when I sold the car some years back.

This is what I was told by Bentley regarding the service history,
It's a ONE owner car with a full service history and the mileage would seem correct!
Furthermore there was no reference to the car being serviced under either my name or my wives name. It was my wives car.
Strange! Given the car was serviced there for nearly 4 years. In that time, aside from the regular scheduled services, it had the phasers replaced, the front shocks replaced, the front controls arms replaced, a complete new hood assembly, repairs to the paintwork due to carelessness and attention to various other small items. All under warranty.
Someone, somewhere had most definitely changed the history. Who?

....you have done an excellent service to this thread by sharing your experience....problem is that there are thousands of people out there (who are not aware of this thread) but who hope to buy a Bentley. Due to the very high price of a new car they consider seeking out a clean (looking) pre-owned Bentley. In my former profession I have become aware of situations even worse than your experience....I hope you will reconsider owning a Bentley. In every endeavor there are unscrupulous people...JimB

....on subject of expensive used cars...I said I had Ferrari Daytona 20 yrs ago...actually it was #16787 I bought it from original owner in 1975, 40 yrs ago. Everything was correct, the original owner was a decent fellow whose business had taken a bad turn. He gave me full service file an inch thick. Like many owners of exotic cars he knew very little about cars. I always rely upon my judgement of the person. We did not even test drive the car. We were about $5000 apart on price, my present wife Rosie flipped a coin, I lost, the deal was done. $37,000. I wrote a check and we drove the car home. I studied the service file...he had been raped by an alleged mechanic to the stars in Santa Monica, Tens of Thousands for regular service. I was on the Santa Monica Freeway, when I would back off on gas at 70mph I heard a familiar and troubling growl, not exhaust, but rear end, just like an old truck I used to own (ring/pinion) I called my seller and said what's with that...He said he had no idea but I should take it out to Star F---er in S.M. Out there I knew we had trouble, a million dollars of expensive tools and machines, you could eat off the floor, but no mechanics in sight, nothing going on...Took Star F---er for a ride, he said he couldn't hear anything wrong. I said Dumb Fk...er, what you don't hear is a bad rear end...He said to keep me as a customer he would fix for only $10,000.
So happened I knew "Bruno" at the time the best racing mechanic in Los Angeles (Also a friend of the Maestro, Mr Ferrari) I had just done Bruno a small favor, he replaced the ring and pinion for cost of parts $750. I called up seller and he sent me his check for $750....much more on Ferrari Adventure later....JimB
