Moms First Ride.

I finally got a chance to get my aged mother into the car. My dad dropped her off at church asking me to give her a ride home. I already started to plan for her thrill ride.

Short of the story is 110mph with the top down had her admitting that she had never been that fast in a car before. I laughed and hit the next stretch at 120! She had a death drip on the Oh S--T handle. When i hit the curvy back road I took a few corners at medium speed and she yelled NO! al the way home on the two mile stretch. I asked her ,at the house, if all that yelling did any good and she just repeated her favorite word-NO.

Hmm, when my grandmother was in her mid 70's she wanted the targa top off and kept asking me to drive faster. Guess my family is a bit more Xtreme

Of course she couldn't get OUT of the car without help, yet she knew how to get in and buckle up tight

Grandmother's are awesome!

My mom used to be much more adventurous. I even asked here if her wild side had died? I told her you know your still alive when you can hear your heart beat in your ears.

Now my daughter on the other hand is different story. Last year on a summer motorcycle tour through the San Juan range of Colorado she said "get on it dad, why are you driving so slow"? She does not even hang on to the door at a buck-30.

One of our granddaughters, then aged 13, once said to friends that she had the coolest grandparents ever. I occasionally used to pick her up in the SL600 (top down) at the school gates for a ride home.

We forget how exotic a top-down car is to those who don't often experience it.

Wedgeduck is infamous around these parts
Every time I have to run errands with my mother, we end up grocery shopping at all her favorite shops. It's really annoying when she will make me drive 10 miles to save her two dollars on food items. And no my mother is not a speed demon, she will kill me if i am 10 miles over the speed limit.

Amazing how the fear of mom persists into adulthood. I wonder if she ever gets into the GTC again.

My mom insisted i tell her the max speed of the Formula 2000 during SCCA racing was 45 mph. She never wanted to see any in-car videos. Ahhh yes, moms... they just want us all to be safe.
