I have 08 GT coupe, and supersports came with gloss black grille,
I want to change them to the black ones (not matte plastic ones, but glossy ones).

painted ones might be chipped easy,
can they by powder coated? are they actual metal (aluminum) or plastic chrome?

Yes, they can be powder coated

 

Mine has plastic grill so can't be powder coated. Some lower grills are metal not sure about upper.

Lowers can be metal buy kidney ones are plastic for safety reasons.

I thought chrome ones were original as most GT I see have them vs black. I know the GT8 has black grills as standard.

 

I guess some cgt's came with plastic upper grill? well, i just rechecked mine with an electric tester and confirmed mine is metal/aluminum.

 

DJ, upper kidney grills should be electro plated abs plastic. Designed to break apart upon impact or someone is gonna be burger meat.

U could nick the surface from behind the grill to confirm.

While inspecting the back grill side l noticed the elctro plating of the plastic peeling in some areas. Painting mine now....
