Time to say hello

I have been lurking here since 2011 and have not posted anything until lately. That was when I realized that I have not registered myself here.

Anyways I bought my 2007 GT in 2011. Thanks must be given to all of you for helping me make this wise decision (I have read most of the postings here ). I was driving a MB S320 prior to this. Well, you know which is a much better car. For those who may not know, our tax structure here is quite prohibitive for us to get new cars - I paid mine for the price of a new car to many of you in the US - a new GT here is about $550k. Thankfully I do not have any major issues with my ride to date.

Thanks once again to all of you for all the useful information here. And a big 'hello' too!

Attached is a photo of my ride.

Thanks for posting and beautiful GT! Same color as the 07 GTC here and it is indeed a great color too! May she bring you many years of happiness and good fortune.

Thanks Steven! I enjoy this car so much that I recommended my sister and hubby to consider this car over their choices - she got herself a GTC and he a Flying Spur eventually. This car is indeed addictive - once you try it, you just get hooked!

Btw I also ordered from Amazon the Audiovox Mediabridge after reading your review. Unfortunately a few days after I placed my order (it was supposed to be in-stock) Amazon informed me that the item is out of stock. I'll now have to look elsewhere. Before I order another one, do you still recommend it? Thanks!

If you want ease of use with ONLY an iApple device, the older Dice I-VW-T/5V unit works flawlessly.

The newer one, MediaBridge AMBR-1502-AVW, adds better overall sound, balanced analog section, Bluetooth, etc. The only main problem is the rare moment during startup it 'forgets' which was the previous way/input you wanted to access (BT audio or iApple or Analog in). As the Bentley sends power to the Dice unit well before you can wait for the On-Screen center dash to go through it's startup plus the two warning screens, over 5 seconds have elapsed and thus you can't THEN choose inputs. My trick, if it ever forgets which input and/or I desire an input change... You need to unplug the Dice unit interface at the glove box (removing power to it) while the car is on, then re-plug it in and make the input choice during the first 5 seconds of power.

The 'trick' is to get in the car and IMMEDIATELY turn on the iApple device in Music mode and thus you can use the iApple's touchscreen to control the music.

Apologies if that sounds confusing, the MediaBridge AMBR-1502-AVW is generally good overall and a must for sound quality plus Bluetooth. The simpler/older unit always just works, always. Due to higher sound quality and BT, I use the MediaBridge AMBR-1502-AVW and keep the iApple device (or Astell&Kern AK120 24-bit/192kHz & DSD portable media player) on a stand bolted to the passenger's seat left-front bolt. Realized I never posted any pics so....

Steven, as usual you have been very helpful. I presently do not have an iDevice - I gave my iPhone 4s to my daughter and got myself a Samsung Note II instead for the bigger screen, no thanks to my failing eyesight. May I know what is the best way to connect the android device to the mediabridge?

dtbh, also have a Note II here and the only way would be Bluetooth. You could try direct connection to the USB, but then you're doomed to the file/folder searching that leaves MUCH to be desired. Perhaps buy an iTouch and leave it in the car, which is what I have done. Both newer and older Dice units will also stream Pandora, Songza, etc, yet of course for the iTouch you'll need a wireless hotspot in your car.

IMHO.... The Android-based FoxFi app is the best imho if you do not have a hotspot plan with your carrier/Note II and FoxFi works great! Everyone in the car can enjoy my mobile 4G LTE speed hotspot as we grand tour in the GTC

Steven, I have FoxFi and I love it too! Will likely get an iTouch just to 'play' with it. To be honest, I am not much into music - I am more into gadgets. It is always nice to have something to play with, don't you think so? For the same reason, I am looking into the GIAC. Boys being boys...

Nobody mentioned about iPad connectivity to the mediabridge so I presume that is a no go.

Talking about the GIAC, I note that you have opted out of the group buy. I would be most grateful if you can PM me your reservations, if any. If you do pls note that I won't be able to reply you as I have not reached the mandatory 15 posts to send PMs. Thanks in advance!

dtbh, the iPad works the same as the iTouch/iPhone with the Dice units. Not sure where you'd mount an iPad in the B, yet the Dice will work. Just plug 'n' play

Great, another gadget to play with when I get my Mediabridge. Thanks again.
