I broke one of the plastic bits that hole the key ring.

Anyone have a part number so I can order a few spares?

just call your local dealer they will know exactly which part you mean,it used to happen a lot.

 

Happens pretty much every time so gave up even fixing it and use a different keyring.

 

I followed the steps per ccwboy in post #4 and I changed the battery very quickly. I tried the steps in post #8 and couldn't get it to open. I was also scared of breaking the key holder. FWIW, I recommend post #4 for changing the battery.
