I-Pod replaces privacy phone.
I-Pod replaces privacy phone.
Today I relocated my Dice unit and I-Pod from the glovebox to the compartment under the armrests.
This gives me much needed extra room in the glovebox, my manuals and mandatory in France breathalyzer kit now sit where the CD player was located.
I have removed the privacy phone and it's cradle and my I-Pod now sits nicely in that space. Unfortunately, without cutting and re-attaching all of the wires in the cable I couldn't route it via the hole where the privacy phone wires came through. I might do that one day though.
In the end I cut a small nick in the side of the lower armrest for the cable then covered that with a small piece of black leather courtesy of an old handbag that my better half said I could cut up.
The only other jobs were to drill a small hole in the bottom of the compartment under the armrests for the two cables which attach to the Dice unit and fit a piece of foam for the I-pod to sit on.
The rubber mat sits on top of the Dice unit and still leaves enough room for a few bits and bobs.
It certainly makes using the I-Pod much easier and it sits just right in the space, as does an I-phone.
The privacy phone is no great loss as I can't get the Nokia to work through the car speakers anyway.
Hopefully there are some photo's attached.
Regards. Les.

The breathalizer is mandatory in France although there is no fine if you don't have one. Only the French could come up with that one.
Yes, the house is ours. It's an 800 year old Château in the Loire. I have spent the last 7 years renovating it. Still lots to do. We have decided that we are going to return to the UK in the not too distant future though. I want a bit more of a normal life, Cheshire style, like we had before we moved here.
