2013 CGT-C Composition of rear bumper cover???

My wife was struck from the rear by a compact car (fortunately!) in an "opps....my flip-flop slipped off the brake pedal.....my dad owns a body shop and can paint that" accident. That reminds me of the infamous Jeff Spicoli scene...."Dude....my dad is a TV repairman...he has an ultimate set of tools...I can fix it". But, I digress. The damage is a VERY limited round 2cm knock through defect in the center of the cover. No other damage. The cover appears to be fiberglass or some sort of fiber reinforced thermoplastic. The claims rep cut a check for $1017.00 for the repair. I would think replacement of the entire cover is in order on a relatively new vehicle of this type. If it is glass I could see how repair/paint is not overly unreasonable but I think it should be definitely replaced if ABS plastic or such. Anyone know the composition of the part? BTW, pics to follow tomorrow.

Only $1017? You got ripped, it should be $2,500 or so. And yes dude, I can fix it cuz my dad has the ULTIMATE set of tools

Anywho, I think the rear bumper is basically a type of plastic. Should be an easy fix, but of course those are famous last words. I'd demand more $ from the insurance company.

yea.....$1017 is definitely low but they will pay the difference in the actual bill if the charges are reasonable. The catch is the definition of reasonable Now, the carfax hit and the resulting diminished value claim is another matter.

Arpad is infamous around these parts
I think there is a threshold for it to show up on a carfax report. ~$2500 Once you go north of that it shows up, but below that they don't really care.
