2004 GT Shift Gate issue

Hello All,

My 04 GT has the shift gate issue where the moving sleeve is no longer there. I wanted to know what I can do to fix this and if anyone had any advice on it.

Thank you

here is picture of what I am talking about. The pic shows the black area that slides when you change gears. Mine is no longer there.

For a detailed explanation on this issue, see my post: "05 CGT shifter assembly sliding cover" on this forum.

Thank you all so much. Not exactly the easy fix I was hoping for. Where is the best place to get the manual, IETIS service manuals, mentioned?

Thank You

I have same thing on my 05 continental. Seems to be very common issue. Did lots of research and found out that the only legit fix is thru the dealer. They will have to replace the whole shifter assembly (about $1900.00 + labor). If you will risk it diy fix.. There are bunch of sensors and magnets that you can take out of Allingment and create much bigger issue. I just trained myself not to put anything there that can fall thru the opening. Please post if anyone has better fix!!

I ended up using 2 part epoxy superglue, just reattaching the rubber sliding cover. Been over 6 month and still good
