GT 05 stereo problem

I have an 05 GT which I use as a daily driver and absolutely love - it certainly is smile a mile 😎

One annoying issue I have is the front speakers on the stereo keep cutting out. I can start the car and speakers are perfect then anything from ten seconds to five minutes and I suddenly lose all the front speakers. I've noticed that the louder I have the stereo the faster they fail. I've checked cables to front doors and door speakers (vag com said front left speaker short) but can't find anything.

So two questions - any good ideas ? Where is the amp etc located ?

Also can anyone recommend a good independent in the Suffolk UK area ?

Thanks guys. DJ

Sounds like a voice coil issue in the left front door speaker. Replace the left front forward speaker. The one near your knee. The speakers bentley uses can worn out quickly if you like your music at a "above average" volume.

Hi DJ.

I had a similar problem. My Autel diagnostic tool detected a failed front left base speaker. When I had a look at it, it was obvious that water running down from the window area had rusted the speaker and caused the paper cone to rip.
I sourced a new pair from Ebay but they were slightly different which meant I had to alter the opening a little. They work great now.

Here's a link to the ones I bought; http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...akers&_sacat=0

Hope that helps a little.

Regards. Les.

Deejer... I replaced the door speaker with focal KP165's & a Audison amp & Audio control processor to control them (minor upgrade lol). Once you see how crappy the stock speaker is im sure you will be surprised.

Also the factory amp is located behind the battery on the passanger side in the trunk. The signal runs from the dash... To the amp... Back out to the speakers & to top all of that off every damn SUB MID & TWEETER... 12 speakers in the car & each has its own leads all the way from amp to the speaker location. WHAT A JOY!!! Oh and overlapping crossover points on the mid & sub make tuning FUN... Take it somewhere and have it upgraded by a pro. You'll be glad you did.

I forgot you guys drive on the wrong side of the car .

Yes it's on the right side in the trunk behind the battery. It's actually easy to get out.
