How to remove Oetiker clamps?

I can envison a tool (that I don't have) that squeezes the Oetiker hose clamps shut. I'm guessing that one might be able to do this with pliers as well.

But I can't see how these clamps can be removed. Can someone please share the secret on how to get them off? I'm hoping it is easier than cutting them off.

Hi.

Here's a link to the VW forum with an article about the clips; http://www.passatworld.com/forums/vo...me-clamps.html

Thanks. Would never thought to look there. Those clamps are a pain. I may see if I can source those pliers locally.
