05 GT Advice and suggestions requested
Hi everyone, I have an Beluga Black 05 GT with 38500 miles. It currently has some maintenance issues that need addressing such as a vacuum leak, kessy needs work so that door handles can lock and unlock car just by touching them, and the torque converter has a stuck solenoid so transmission works fine but shifts hard going from 2nd to 1st. The interior is basically perfect except for the headliner sag on passenger side (can be fixed locally for $425, had to do this for my 04 CGT as well). It is a 9 hour round trip for me to get the car to a dealer. I am wanting to sell the car. What are your opinions, should I go through the hassle of shipping it to the dealer and get the car back to perfect then sell it (after spending another 6k or so), or just list the car honestly letting buyers know the servicing needed? If I was to sell it as is where would be the best place to do so? Any of you that live near a dealer want a "project" at a great price?? Either way I will have way more into the car than it I can get for it so I am just ready to move on to the next car. I just put all new tires and brakes on the car along with a new battery.

Depends if it the right car for the right person. Someone like me would jump on the opportunity not afraid working on Bentley's. However, majority of potential buyers are almost always looking for perfect running vehicles and preferably with some type of warranty.
You could always try first selling it on one of the free sites and see what happens...

Hmmm, hard to say as pouring about 10 grand into a 45 to 50k car... Maybe use it as a trade or, perhaps better still , auction it off at a car auction like Barret Jackson. Fix the headliner, tho, so she looks good visually.
my car shifts hard on downshift from 1st to second too. any idea of cost to repair stuck solenoid?? i fixed vacuum leak and kessy within the year and intend to keep my car. i fell a great GT in spite of costly repairs
Thank you everyone for your thoughts on this. I had a deal to trade the car in but at the last minute the dealer claims there was an issue with the car they were selling me and they backed out of the deal, so I am still left with the Bentley. If any of you are looking for a fun project on a lower mile clean title car, shoot me a PM, I am willing to pass the car along at a good price.
....if you still have the car with it's various ills, not uncommon on 05, sometimes just best to cut your losses, life's too short to get bogged down...having done that myself with a piece of real estate...best move to move on...I would bite the bullet be totally frank and sell it...JimB

Yes I still have the car, but I am ready to let someone else have the fun and benefit of getting it up and running like new. Anything offers over 37k would be accepted even though I have over 48k in it now. I just haven't listed the car on Autotrader, Ebay or places like that yet.
I would rather it go to a Bentley fan like the members here.

I bought the car in July, and it was sold to me as running and driving perfectly. Less than one minute after receiving the car I knew that wasn't true. I have driven it less than 10 miles (just to go to the tire store to get new tires put on). Car was originally sold in Oregon then sold to an owner in Las Vegas. Last two years the car was living in Toronto. I legally re-imported it back into the US and it has a South Carolina clean title, no accident history. I have no clue on the service history other than I just did an oil and filter change, installed new tires and new brakes.
....to some situation there are no painless answers....as Zaos said above, this looks like a project car...you can't win em all...you are best judge but market is thin....a person paying 25K might make it work...JimB
....is the car drivable...just the bad vac leaks mean engine out deal...there are people on site who have paid $12,000 to dealers or maybe 5-6000 to good indie shop...from what you say this car has been around the horn...what your latest thinking on subject...JimB
