Michelin Pilot 4s
Michelin Pilot 4s
Hello,
I'm in the market for some new tires. And I was considering the Michelin pilot4s. And wanted to know has anyone put them on their Bentley yet?
I want to go with Michelin, opposed to Pirelli for the softer ride. And overall better reviews with Michelin then Pirelli. thanks

....Hello FastT...Have always had original Perrelli's designed for 5500 pound Bentley and rated for High Speed. Granted they are Summer Tires designed for here in California...the car always rides and feels great and lasts about 15,000 miles of conservative driving...my only concern is that Perrelli told me that slightly cold temperatures around 37 degrees the tires are problematic. Going to Tahoe or Yosemite easily below that temp. Dealer never says anything about that, when I clued them in they act surprised...
....I would consider the Michelin's if you could explain the advantage...
Thanks JimB

Jim,
I'm going off the reviews, that Michelin are better then the Pirelli. Reviews on this site. And figuring the 4s are the latest Michelin pilot super sport tires. they gave good reviews about the tire, but no info on them on the B. Maybe Ill be the first.

....driving in cold temp. would not be any problem, tires stay plenty warm in use, it's parking in cold temp. overnite...cracking sidewalls issue...as told to me by Perrelli Specialist...
...my only experience is with Perrelli Summer Tires that are original equipment...car is 2010 CGT Speed with 20,000 miles, we are on second set of tires and still original TPMS's, been six years so expect to change TPMS's on next tire change...I have no place to store extra set of wheels with Winter Tires or I would have them...JimB

I don't know if it helps but I have 255/45 19 104Y Michelin Pilot Super Sport XL on my 2002 Arnage T. They seem equally as good as the Pirelli tyres with first rate road holding and they appear to be wearing more slowly.
Mich pss are better grip wet or dry than pirelli. Also pirelli seems to slide around whereas the Mich pss grip great.
Have PS4S on the BMW 435i yet only 100 miles. Having had pss on the bentley, id go ps4s over the pirelli all day long. Mich has 30k mile warranty, not sure the pirelli yet most are lucky to get 15k it seems.

....the way it was explained to me by Perrelli is they use a softer compound to attain compromise between comfortable Bentley ride and road grip, yes they wear out in 15,000 miles, but you are talking 5,500 pound car. Perrelli been around 100 years and know something. I'm not saying Michelins aren't better, just have no frame of reference since the car feels fine, don't know how it could be better...I guess the only way for me to know would be to try a set of Michelins, might just do that if I can get them to agree...JimB
