Hello @kma ,
Being that you have a 2009 GT, do you have the NAIM for Bentley audio system, or the standard, the standard system would have a single 40 amp fuse in the driver's facia fuse box, if the NAIM system, then three 20 amp fuses in the left side trunk fuse box.

Johnny,

Thanks as usual. Mine is NAIM. But the manuel only shows #1 fuse "Auto Amplifer" and #3 fuse "Ariel Amplifer" in the front facial fuse box, not in the diagram for the back fuse box. ????

More importantly, I have a hard time to open the front facial fuse box because I cannot find the handle under neath to pull it open?? The online vedio all show different car and different locations. Can you help?

Thanks a lot.

Johnny,

Never mind, I did check the front fuses are fine, will check the 3 fuses in the back left. I lost the volume after I jumpped the car. AMP may be fried. Just go through the steps. Thanks for the information.

Hello @kma ,
The three 20 amp fuses are located as shown in the attached pictures, hopefully your NAIM amp if ok.

Johnny,

I don't have those 3 fuses in the back fuse bookm but I have the 40M one in the front fuse bax as named "Audio Amplifer." Loos like I have the standard, even the screen has NAIM?

The #1 40M fuse and the #4 5M fuse look fine. Does this mean I have a bad amplifer? Please advise. Thanks!

Regards,

KMA

Johnny,

In addition to the no volume, I started having this humming sound periodcally following a cycle, coming under the driver side panel (?), regardless the speed, uased to be shorter and lower, now it sounds like a regular sound beam in a cycle on and stop. It is annoying because you start to wait for it.

I think I saw guesses, but you think it is an engine out issue?

Thanks!

Hello @kma ,
If you have the NAIM system, you will see the "NAIM for Bentley" in the trunk/boot along the subwoofer box as shown in my picture, you would also have the NAIM for Bentley on each door speaker cover as shown, and lastly, you would have the NAIM for Bentley amplifier as shown in the trunk/boot on the right side behind the starter battery.

If you do not have these items, then you have the standard system, BUT, the question is, why is the Infotainment head unit showing NAIM for Bentley, we had this once before here on 6Speed, the person lost sound, he claimed that he had the NAIM system because the head unit displayed "NAIM", yet iirc he did not have any badging, or the sub, I asked if it always showed the "NAIM", or just after the problem of no sound started, I asked if the Infotainment head unit had ever been replaced, but the poster never came back with the follow up information I requested during our discussions, I suggested pulling the single 40 amp fuse to reset the amp, but to also pull the Infotainment head unit out to pull it's 10 amp fuse located on the back side of said head unit to reset it itself, and to scan the head unit for coding, so I ask you the same as to the badging and the NAIM for Bentley always being on your Infotainment head unit screen, I take it by checking the 40 amp fuse, you pulled the fuse out, or did you use a test light ?

Johnny,

" I take it by checking the 40 amp fuse, you pulled the fuse out, or did you use a test light ?"

Yes, I just pulled 40 amp out and someone said it is good then I put it back.

I can't find the 3 fuses in the back left box as indicated, so look like I have a standard? even the screen showed NAIM??

I need to find/pull the 10m for infortainment head unit in the back box?? Which one is that fuse??

Thanks.

BTW, I really appreciate the contribution you make on this site and others. I think I can speak for many others like me as clueless.

@kma ,
First, thank you, I try.

As to you having the standard system and the head unit displaying "NAIM", I am having a feeling that being that it is a 2009 head unit, it may be possible that it contains software for both the standard and the naim system, I just am not 100% on that, I know when I purchased my replacement 2010 head unit and installed it, it showed "NAIM", eventhough I had the standard system throughout the vehicle, amp, speakers, etc, then I installed all the required items for the NAIM system, I mention all of this because it ties into what the other member here on 6Speed ran into, but as I stated above, he never came back to answer my questions, so I texted him today, hopefully he will respond soon, because here is my thinking, he had the standard system, they jumped the vehicle one day and he lost sound, he threw another amp in and he still had no sound, but he realized that his head unit was showing "NAIM", I told him about the 40 amp fuse and the 10 amp fuse via phone calls and texts, he wrote "let me go check, I will keep you updated", but he never contacted me nor responded again, although he posted here on 6Speed that he pulled the fuse, and put it back in, and he then had sound, that was in June of 2020, so, it is not clear to me at this moment if he pulled the 40 amp or the 10 amp, or if the NAIM button reverted back to a DSP button, as DSP is the standard systems sound fields, the 10 amp fuse is located as I said, on the back of the head unit itself, as pictured below, so either a scan for faults of the head unit (07-control head ) or the amp (47-sound system), and then clearing those faults may bring the sound back, as well as pulling the 10 amp fuse.

When you press any of the buttons such as, CD, FM, SAT, does a message appear on the screen, such as "digital sound package not available" ?

Sorry for the long description, just trying to think of every solution.

Johnny,

-- Yes, I do see NAIM silver sticker on both doors and on screen.
-- I only can find Fuse #1 (40M) Audio Amplifier and #4 (10M) Arial Amplifier. #17 (10M) is the infortainment. They are all in the facial (front) fuse box.
-- I cannot find the 3 fuses as shown in your graph in the rear box.

I did pull both fuses (#1 #17) out and re-insert them and no effect. I figure that (1) the fuses are not obviously "seen" bad without a test light (?), or (2) I do have a bad amplifier (how do I test that?).

This is what I have now. Thanks!

@kma ,
😀, ok, scratch my prior response, can you please post some pictures of your interior, the trunk, trunk fuse box on the left side above the house battery , and any NAIM plaques in the trunk ?
This is a GT, and not a GTC, not sure if it matters, but i will look now, also, it is a 2009, correct, and what is your location as to being NA or ROW model ?

@kma ,
That's the problem with some owners manuals, maybe check the date it was printed.. as with the premium sound package (naim), the 40 amp fuse is listed as a "spare", I know your owners manual doesn't show that, but it also doesn't show the premium amplifier either, does it show the NAIM system at all ?

Next, and most importantly, has anyone else besides yourself be involved in this since the battery low issue, or prior, meaning when did the sound fault actually occur ?

Here's why I ask, if you look very closely at slots 20, 21, and 22 in the trunk fuse box, you will see where I placed red dots on each fuse blade socket, notice how there are sockets on both sides where the fuse gets inserted, yet the slot I marked with blue dots only has one side with the blade sockets, that is the hot side, the blue blank sides are the load side, and since the is no item or load to feed, there is no wire or socket in that slot, yet the six slots I marked in red have both sides utilized, the line from the power source, and the load to the amp, and as the naim amp takes three hots, and three grounds, therefore three fuses, it certainly looks like someone removed the three fuses.

Please take a closer pic of the three slots, to make sure I am seeing clearly, and try placing three 20 amp fuses in there.

Johnny,

-- I got the car in 2009 brand new with the manuel.
-- The sound has been out for at least 2 years after the car battery was jumpped by a shop (after many months of no use). Since then, I left the car in the garage with occasional charging. I only have the time to look into it lately and finally got the house battery replaced with your help.

-- I do not think anyone else ever touched the car to the fuse boxes since I lost the volume.

The manuel table does indicate that Slots 20, 21, 22 are "not used." Does this suggest that I have a standard sound, not a premium NAIM? (could be an option then?)

Should I just get 3 20M fuses (any type?) to insert there Slot 20/21/22 to test it? Thanks!

KCM

@kma ,
You definitely have the NAIM for Bentley system as shown by your pictures, forget about what your owners manual says about the three fuses being "not used", as the naim system was a 2009 model year option, and your owners manual does not show the proper fuse layout for said option, you are not the first person to say that the owners manual doesn't show something, if you look closely at the three slots like I suggested, you will see the line and load metal sockets for each side of the fuse, someone definitely removed the three fuses.

So please insert three 20 amp fuses to test, if they blow immediately, then you have an amp problem, let's hope for the best.

I am anxiously waiting... 🫣

Standard 20 amp fuses, not mega, not mini, but standard blade fuses.

Check this out! https://a.co/d/dTF3PBb
