Emissions Gas Temperature Sensor fault - Can I still drive?

I was greeted with a check engine light ("CEL") one evening, so I went to my Bentley specialist who retrieved fault codes for each of the bank 1 emissions gas temperature sensor ("EGTS") and bank 2 EGTS. He said I could still go ahead to drive it if I did not mind the CEL being on all the time, and that the car would probably burn more petrol until the sensors were replaced. I did not get any temperature warning. I noted that the car is completely smooth and shows slightly better power delivery than normal.

My question:
Is there any risk associated with driving for a few weeks/months with faulty EGTS? I am worried that long term driving could cause something like frying the cats.

Also, "why?" you might ask - it's a huge pain in the *** to take the car to the garage, drop it off and retrieve, given my schedule, so I want to wait until my next service.

TIA!

From your description if the only issue is the sensor, drive the car conservatively and minimize hard acceleration. The EGT sensor is a function to prevent turbo overload by sensing the exhaust temperature. Naturally aspired W12's do not have this sensor. None-the-less the complexity and expense with these cars fixing it sooner than later is still advised.

That's really helpful feedback thanks! And turbo overload sounds scary (and expensive). Time to order parts :`(
