Yes Rico, thinking a little bit along those same lines.
I retired from the high tech computer industry where I was employed as an ME. For a while I was charged with printed circuit board assembly/solder (wave solder). It is "routine" to see cold solder joints. These joints sometimes have enough continuity to pass initial electronic functional tests, yet can fail thereafter when subjected to time in the environment. Cold solder joints are an easy diagnosis (simply a visual inspection with an eyeglass) and a very simple repair.
In the world of Corvettes where I've spent time recently, GM control modules such as BCMs, ECMs, TCMs, ABSs, etc., are notorious for failures in the field and a group of us figured out early that a high percentage of the time the failures were simply cold solder joints. We had about an 85%/90% success rate simply searching for and resoldering these joints and the unit went back into service.

They did a perfect job
Totally transparent and painless its a fair price
I feel its more Audi price than Bentley we all have to earn a living after all we are the ones driving Bentleys
I understand what others are saying and I can solder neatly
I looked at the board before I sent it off for repair most of the components are surface mounted by machine
I think all but the best would end up wrecking the board me included
Hope this helps others

Thanks for the followup; and appreciate your assessment of the PCB. Did they provide any details, what they repaired? If not, must be a known component failure they routinely replace. Could be something as simple as a fuse component that is surface mounted or soldered in the board.

Removal repair
People at Waterloovile did perfect job
when removing dash wood piece will either come out with a good pull
a Tug rather than a gentle pull
mine stuck
i needed to put a curved snap on trim tool in a gap I created around the speedo recess to pull mine out
when dash trim was removed my problem was caused by a metal clip that fits car side this had bent
you can straighten them and refit

Sorry my eyesight is not getting any better but how many bullet pins are there in total? So just I know where to use some force. Also did you say it was around £350 for repair?

My screen went fuzzy, then out on the right side, got a screen off ebay and all is well
(i did start thread for my issue but it went a bit of line for me so i made no more input on it)
the screen is easy to remove just 5 screws a 2 ribbons
