Heat damage

Hi guys just changing plugs and coil packs and on the passenger side (UK) bank there is some heat damage to the wiring loom (no damage to wires but the plastic shrouding) any ideas what can cause this.the cars been running fine since I had it and on inspection no wires are damaged could it of come from the pipe that the MAF pushes into? Not sure if it was damaged when other owner had it I'll probably put some heat protection back around it to be double sure

Be careful not to drop anything down the turbo pressure pipe. Any small object falling in can destroy the turbo impellers.

I've noted in other posts that our Bentleys' are furnaces. Indeed there's indication of excessive heat in yours. The wire loom covering used by Bentley is subject to embrittlement, under normal wear and tear. The turbo pressure pipe probably doesn't get hot enough to do that kind heat damage. There is the possibility the car seriously overheated at some point in its life?

Hello ... Oh my that's had some serious heat, as you say the loom is intact just the plastic covering has melted, you need to check if the wires (cables) are still soft or if you bend them are they brittle and crack the insulating rubber, if so then you need to replace them, when wires are exposed to heat in that way the outer insulation gets brittel ...
let us know what you find ...

The covering that can replace the burnt covering, check update next post. I'll bet all the covering on the ABS lines on the inner wheel wells is equally deteriorated. This size wire loom cover will fit and is a exact replacement
