Slamming the door
Slamming the door
The GT doors are so long and heavy (and fairly well-balanced) that my passengers have a tendency to slam it like a Ford station wagon door. The bang sounds terrible and I worry about knocking the window off the track. Am I over-worried, or can a good slam actually damage the window assembly?
I feel like a ninny asking people not to slam the door, but the last thing I want is to have to take the door card off and put a window back on track.
How paranoid am I being?
BTW, car is running beautifully, it seems like a boat or plane; when it sat at a dealer's for five months, stuff froze up, but now that I use it every other day or so, it is just at the top of its game.
I gave a co-worker a ride home the other day. As we walked to my car, he didn't say anything, but as he sat down he said, "I should have known you drove a Bentley."
I don't tell anyone I own a Bentley, it is just so over-the-top. My colleague could have afforded one, but he drives a new Volvo (perfectly great car) and the Bentley is just a weird conversational topic I avoid. My teen daughter likes the radio but hates the back seat. She'll drive it if pressed to do so (working on her license) but I don't press her to drive it since that's just silly.

Be a ninny or pay to have the window fixed ⚖️🤔
I think I’ll be a ninny with this one 🤣
Your really nice British. I have 3 cars with the soft close feature and I’m quick to tell ppl not to slam my doors to the point they will finally say “I know, I know. Don’t slam your door”. Now my truck, I don’t care. Slam it. That way I know it’s closed all the way!

Lol, I have to remind my wife to use the soft close every time she gets in or out. Funny how she can remember just about everything but that.
However, I'm the same way with cupboards, microwave doors, etc as I don't see the need to slam things, damageable or not.
As for telling others I also never volunteer car brands owned as I feel it's a bit 'braggy' and also somewhat uncomfortable if someone else brings it up, unless he or she is a 'car guy' or 'gal'
Plus it's kind of fun on those dress down days where you may get a snobby hourly customer service person misjudge your intentions and then watch you drive off in a nice car. Not that that scenario would ever invite any mention of cars, but fun anyway.

Since our Bentley came along, with it's soft close doors, and my explanation to my better 1/2, she's fully grasp the concept, and really likes it... too much I'm afraid. Now I have a related but different problem: "Darling: Just a reminder: The Tahoe doesn't have soft close doors... and yes: the result of not slamming it shut is why the "open door" light is illuminated on the dash and the warning chime is chiming, pretty-much the same goes for the washing machine, same still goes for the tailgate on my 40+ year-old pickup, as does the same still apply to pretty much all the other doors we own except per the Bentley. And no... I don't believe I can fix all the other doors so they'll work like the Bentley... although "yes"... I'll get to fixing the front door on the house so we don't have to keep prying it open with a wrecking bar... thank you for reminding me... and "yes", I love you too."
Thinking us guys here over 50 are talking from experience!!!
