That suggests that your outside air temperature sensor is either faulty, or has become unplugged.
According to the Illustrated Parts Catalogue, there are quantity three of these dotted around the car: one in the front bumper, one in the plenum, and one in the left hand side of the boot.
I would hazard a guess that it’s the bumper one at fault. It’s apparently easy to replace without having to remove the nose; just the grille has to come off.
The part number is 1J0919379A which is a generic VW part so you can pay £5 for a pattern part, a little more for VW, or £30+ for the same thing in a Bentley box.
