CGT Starter Battery Replacement Process
CGT Starter Battery Replacement Process
Greetings
Have just wrestled the dead starter battery out of the trunk of my trusty 2007 CGT. It being an AC Delco unit installed September 2014, so I'm not feeling too miffed. However, I got to reading several posts on the forum where references were made to installation sequences. One in particular mentioned severe damage, involving pyrotechnics, should the wrong process be utilized.
Can I ask whether this is a real issue of concern, or maybe some kindly misinformation put about by our friendly dealership folks? I'm well versed in the normal process, but the cluster of boxes and wires atop this puppy does inspire some fear.
Many thanks

There is a very specific process, there are multiple threads on here that take you through it.
I don't think you're going to blow the pyrotechnic wire-cutter, but this car is so sensitive to voltages that you should make sure you do it right. Scroll back through the pages and you'll find a couple good threads, they'll discuss how to reset your windows and whatever else got messed with.
Then again, you're just changing the starter battery, so if the other one is in good shape, that might all be for nought. But I'd still look it up. And I bet it's time to change your other one as well.
Sorry, I'm not a lot of help on this, but again, the thread is just a couple of pages back.

As an aside, I've used a group 47 (H5) Duracell AGM, from Sam's Club, which is on special at around $127. They also have it in lead/acid for $87. The AGM also ranks at the top of its group at Consumer Reports. They come with a 36 month warranty.
Once again, thanks for the kind responses.
