Buying advice, options and accessories

As I'm still in the fortunate situation of not having bought a Flying Spur yet, this seems like a perfect opportunity to gauge current owners' opinions on what to look for in terms of equipment and features. More often than not I've realized that some factory options would've been great to start with when the car I bought hasn't had them and retrofitting them afterwards is either a real pain, very expensive or almost impossible.

So what - in your opinion - are the neatest, most useful factory options in your Spur, or CGT for that matter, when it applies to both? I'm trying to compile some kind of "must haves" and "wants" to figure out what exactly to look for. It would also be interesting to hear where to source some easily installed but expensive-as-spare-parts -accessories like rear seat cocktail tables.

I'm not interested in items that can easily be upgraded/retrofitted/modernized like audio head unit. Not necessarily even maintenance items as there's a lot of information on this board on air suspension, vacuum lines and numerous other possible issues to check and address. On the other hand, some features I prefer are hard to come by even though there are dozens of cars available within the EU so this won't probably be easy. I'm not in a hurry either so it's best not to rush a purchase and realize it's missing a bunch of options I would've liked to have.

One question has surfaced lately: I've seen a number of pictures of CGT:s equipped with (Thule?) roof racks and I really need a pair - I have a ski lodge up north we visit a few times a year and a rooftop ski box is a must. I've checked with Thule and officially they have nothing for Flying Spur. Not even its close relative VW Phaeton. Does anyone have an idea which roof racks (from any manufacturer/brand) would fit?

This is just a start. I've made a few bad purchases over the years and spent way too much time installing features and options that would've been easily available had I just chosen a better equipped car to start with so all ideas, tips and suggestions are very welcome.

Coupes have a ski flap .Some use those suction cup ski holders as well if you want them on the roof .
Buy on history and condition only .History trumps gadgets .

Four persons, four pairs of cross country skis, four pairs of regular slalom skis, maybe 2-3 pairs of powder/mogul/freestyle skis, a bunch of poles, four ski boot bags and maybe a pair of shotguns for winter fowling season on top of regular luggage = a full size (90-115cm wide, 220cm long, tall) box is a must. And very practical too, as a cold storage for a few bags of groceries we often pick up on the way.

That's why. It already means downsizing a bit because all this barely fits in a MB G with a roof box.

I'm definitely planning to buy on service history and a full checkup at an authorized dealer, but there are so many good candidates for sale around Europe that I want to be picky. I rarely trade or sell cars (my wife calls me a hoarder) so whatever I end up with will probably be a long-term keeper and should have all the right options. The big question is what they are, as I have no prior experience of VAG-era Bentleys yet.
