Hi all,
i have a 2010 Continental Supersports, and it came with ceramic brakes.
The front pads look fine but the rear ones are running thin, wondering if i can just change the pads without changing the rotors (as they are very expensive to purchase) and designed to last over 100k
As Paul stated, just the pads, I though would be checking as to why the rear pads are worn before the fronts, have the fronts been replaced before but not the rears, or are the rear calipers hanging up ?
I bought it at 17k and now it has 27k miles.
occasionally fronts squeal, but my rear pads seems thinner. And i have no idea if any brake jobs were done.
Hello @shorttough ,
If you could retake the rear pad picture it would be helpful, it appears out of focus.
As far as the part numbers you listed by link, I have checked them 3 times, only because I didn't like that Scuderia posted the incorrect rotor for the rear ceramic compared to the front ceramic rotor they displayed, but those listings all state "ceramic" for rotors and pads, so it should be good to go, but I would call Peter Ketchen at Scuderia directly to confirm. As far as your pad thickness, here are some pictures of the calipers from the Supersports salvage vehicle where I got my Supersports engine transmission package from, the Supersports had 11,000 +/- miles on it at the crash, see the pads thickness, they all look like new, front and rear.
2 pictures of the fronts, and 1 of the rear, it's amazing how small the front pads are with those huge calipers.

As far as the squealing, it has been said that it is normal, if you watch any YouTube videos of vehicles with the ceramic brakes, they all squeal.
@therron4ou went through all of this back in December of 2015, he was told that the cracks in one of his rotors were to many, and therefore needed replacing, and being that they must be replaced in pairs, it was a experience job, I found a package deal for him at a Florida Bentley dealership for good cost, well, he ended up with the same squealing, after lots of discussion with other owners with ceramics he found that they spray aluminum wheel cleaner on the rotors and let it sit overnight, he said that gets you about 1-2 months of no squealing.
