C,
Cap was hanging for the photo. Fits nicely in the filler bay during refueling. Also, the cap on this car is plastic and rubber, might scuff the polish, but scratch, I don't think so. You do have a good point for someone with one of the metal caps or just got the car out of the detail shop and don't want anything to touch the finish. I think I would just put the cap on top of the pump and not have the tether.

Ahhh good call. TBH it will almost certainly scratch because the the paint will have grit on it etc. etc. Whether you *notice* (or indeed anyone else does or cares) is another matter entirely, and totally up to you.
I used to hate it, years back, when you'd get that arc of scratches below the door locks. People had a all their house keys and car keys on a single ring, and remote central locking wasn't a thing....
C,
Had a maintenance guy with a key ring of about 30 keys of properties he took car of. Pulled the lockset right out of the column on his truck. !! We are down to one key for the house, but my wife has a fist full of those little plastic loyalty tags for stores. NOT on her key for the GT.
I would notice. I wear a long fleece when I am working on the car so I don't burnish the polish. It's cold and rainy today so trying a new wax on the car and thought what if I drove away leaving that cap dangling on the cord? OUCH. Don't think that will happen unless that young aerobics instructor ends up fueling daddy's Lambo while I am getting gas.
I will just have to be extra careful if that happens.

Do NOT have the receipt from Amazon(?). BUT, I just went out into garage with flashlight. Cap is black with green "plug" that inserts into fuel nozzle inlet.
If you look on surfaces you place your fingers on to twist (unscrew) fuel filler cap, on one side you will find
PA6.6-GF30 and on other surface VWOOOO 201553E NOTE VW and 4 OOOO Audi Rings! As I wrote, it is an Audi/VW Part. Can't remember the cost, but maybe $35?? About 1/2 the Bentley price (which makes absolutely NO SENSE...unless it has a B embossed on it somewhere (could be!)).
Good Hunting and it is a GREAT DAY here in South Carolina!!!

Thanks Ed, I appreciate that info and found it on Amazon. What year is your Bentley? Mine is an '09 and the description says this one is for 2015+
Mine is '05 Conti GT, Cypress Metallic over Magnolia. There "should be" a prompt that reads "Does this product fit your vehicle" or words to that effect. I had no trouble sorting it out and no trouble since. Works just fine. OH, the "plug" is bright lime green! You'll know it when you see it. You might also contact Parts Guy at a VW/Audi dealer and ask them which one "crosses" to an '09.

I am confident you will get there. Good Hunting!
Thanks again. I may just bring it to a VW dealer and show it to the parts guy.
