Intro and Unusual Path to a BGT

Hi All,

Been poking around and asking a couple of questions but now am in possession of a UK 2010 (2009 model) BGT in Graphite with Beluga interior and Piano wood with 40k miles on the clock. The route to ownership was a bit frustrating... We decided we wanted something a bit different which could be fun to drive when required or very relaxing for longer journeys. I'd owned a few Lotuses 20 years ago or so and didn't want an out and out sports car this time around. We had a Cayenne to sell/part exchange and given the road we live on plus the requirement for the car to be a daily driver, 4 wheel drive was a requirement.

So - we'd always liked the look of the Panameras (unusual I know) I did some research and decided that the right spec early Turbo model would be great and within budget. Challenge was of course that during Lockdown purchase needed to be sight unseen. Trade (and not Private) purchase and warranty was also high on the list so this meant buying from a well respected independent. So buying the seller was first priority and then find the car. Drew up a shortlist and then found a 2009 Panamera Turbo with a good dealer backed warranty. From the history, car had not been driven much for the past couple of years but dealer did a full check over and it had just had a service and MOT so all should be good. Expected a couple of teething problems but knew the dealer would sort them out. Well, got the car home and there were a few gremlins which unfortunately turned into very difficult to locate issues. Dealer took the car back and gave us a courtesy car whilst they sorted it (and used the local Porsche main dealer as well.). This took time to get to the bottom of the issues (which will be familiar I'm sure to Bentley owners) and the dealer was great - offering my money back but we needed a 2nd car...

So more research and then looked (on-line) at a BGT they had in stock. I'd not realised they were 4 wheel drive and therefore also met our criteria exactly. Deal was struck and about 8 weeks after driving the Panamera home, I drove the BGT home last weekend (complete with dealer backed warranty). Now done 250 miles and loving it. Once again - it's not done much mileage in the last 2 years of ownership so needs to be driven. A couple of minor issues as you'd expect but it will go back to the dealer in a few weeks when it's had some decent mileage to resolve which they are fine about.

I'm not naming the dealer (who've been great) until they've sold the Panamera (which has now been fully resolved and is in better condition than when I originally bought it!)
