2007 Bentley GTC Glove Box

I am afraid to break anything, I need to "drop" the glove box door down to access the wires for the Radio unit to change the Apple iPhone plug to the new style plug....They come down from in the glove box...TIA!

Hi
Can you not just use a 30 pin to lightning adapter?

Hello @John R. Allen ,
Could you please post a picture of the connection you are trying to change out ?

Is you Apple integration factory, or factory parts installed at a later date, or a totally different aftermarket application ?

The wires do not go to the radio.

If aftermarket and you have to drop the glove box, it is dropped as a whole, not by just dropping the door down, either way you still would first remove the NAV disc drive and music CD drive with the removal tools, if aftermarket you may find the connection you require right at the back of the CD player.

If it is a factory setup, then please post the picture of the cable you are attempting to change, as the factory system has the media box 3W0 035 341 B up above the glove box, with it's lead cable 3W0 035 561 from the box to the mounting location on the bottom of the NAV drive as shown in pictures, then the Ipod/phone cable 3W0 051 510 or any variation of this cable plugs into the socket at the bottom of the NAV drive then on to your phone.

Johnny

Hi Johnny

Thanks for the quick reply! MY unit looks like teh one you sent in a picture...except I have no connector under teh Nav. unit. My 2 wires drop down from an access point at the top of the glove box...See connectors...I will try to buy a 30 point apple adaptor to the new lightening charger with the audible playback ability.

point in teh top of teh glove box....

Hi all,

I know this is an old thread but I have been unable to get an answer to my query about the same subject. This is directed to Johnny Hotspur primarily as I have the same set up shown in the pictures. I bought an OEM cable with a usb connector but when I plug in my iphone or ipod it is not recognised. If i plug in a USB memory stick that is recognised and plays the songs and displays the track names on the screen.

I am just looking for a bit of guidance to see if I need to do anything else to get my iphone working. From what I have seen it should work with the phone. I don't want to buy a bluetooth adaptor, such as the BoVee, if it is still not going to work.

Thanks

Hello @Kpgall ,
Please give me a little more detail as to what plug you are actually using, because you say USB, and the USB works with the memory stick but not the iPhone, you can't physically plug the USB into your iPhone, or vise versa plug the iPhone into the USB in the vehicle, so I believe that you are using a separate iPhone to USB cable to plug into the USB on the vehicle side, if so, that does not work, at least as I tried, I do not use iPhones except for an old (30 pin) iPhone 6 iirc given to me from my neighbor that I tested with the Bentley 30 pin iPhone plug, it worked as to play the music stored on it, it displays all info, as does the Bovee 1000, which requires the 30 pin plug, so show us which plugs you have, with part numbers if possible.

Edit: I just recalled that I also purchased the Bentley cable you most likely are looking for, I purchased it to test on the iPod nano 7th Gen I found in the S600 I purchased, it also worked in my Bentley 2010 setup I installed.
So, either the J or H version of number 8 below is what you need depending on the year of your vehicle.

Johnny
