Third brake light error disabling

@Johnny Hotspur GT And others! Have to create new topic. I don't like that diodstripe so i don't whant to replace it. And i want to disable it without error on dashboard.
Need your help ) i want to make some device than will cheat window brake light. so, it is not that easy as with that modules that i made for rear lights upgrade. so i've discovered all wirings of that stop diod light and. there are two pins easyly reached on the shelf in the boot. There is module - C00408 part number - 3d0959933f
and two connectors x00323(11pin) and x00512 (7pin) that finaly are connected to that stripe of diods. so. I want to ask to connect tester and to see consumption and voltage on both of this pins with stop pressed and without. And then ill make simple-connecting device to cheat that controll module
Spoiler

Or maybe If it is hard for You maybe your know somebody who can do this on this forum, i think it will be usefull for bentley owners.

Hello @molphar ,
Are you for some reason not able to test load and voltage on these pins, I would, but I am unable at the moment, did you try to access the 2 pin plug for the high mount brake light at the side panel by the left rear seat, and take the measurements there.

Johnny

I think that doing mesurements on shelf easier, but stil, it doesn't matter for me. my brake light is dead, and i don't want to restore it just to switсh off. A bit expencive!
@Johnny Hotspur GT Sorry if i bothered you with that!

@molphar ,
Now I get it, yours is out completely, I have a HMBL laying around somewhere, I will put 12+ volts to it and test the load, maybe Saturday.

I/m not hurry, only if it is not a trouble. Actually i understand that one pin is 12v and another is "return" so it is not only abou consumtion. in is not simple gnd unfortunatly. sso i have to know what is on it in two statrs with pedal pressed ans without.

Hey All,

Does anyone know what actually fails on the HMBL units? Is it burned out LEDs?

They are such simple devices, so I assume the wiring and LEDs must be potted and individual pieces unable to be replaced without damage or breaking the light?

often is rotten wire. Diods die sometimes and you ca nsee some water inside. that is sign of dead diod atrioe. there is manual how to change 3-rd brake light. bu i don't like it. so ill switch it off

Thanks molphar, that makes perfect sense. (VAG and water ingress once again... a trigger for me, lol)

Here in the US, the brake light parts are not too expensive relative to other parts, but I felt the same way about the rear spoiler. Rarely get up to speeds where it deployed (95mph on my car) so rather than fussing with it I disabled it.
