My indépendant, Fluid Motor Union asked to use my exhaust repair on their YouTube channel, they were proud of their work, the owner, OJ, did it all himself and took pride in "the right fix" instead of my suggestion of a dollop of J-B Weld, which apparently they don't use…ever. Lol.

Anyway, I love the video, it shows a really good use of a smoke test and his noodling around about what it could have been. I pointed him toward Johnny's thread on the exhaust plugs and eureka, it all came together. OJ credited 6Speedonline too.

If you have any curiosity give it a watch, and if you're in Illinois or close by, I really can't recommend Fluid Motor Union enough, they're not cheap but they are honest and that seems to be a big difference between them and the local dealership. They did an engine-out for me, rebuilt my wheels, put on tires and adjusted my hood after I…never mind, I don't want to talk about what I did, it's embarrassing, but they fixed it without giving me any grief.

Right next door is a really good radio shop, Soundz Plus, I've used them several times, my only complaint is that they are so busy it's hard to get an appointment,

So if you smell exhaust in the cabin of your car, it might be a straightforward fix:

Cool vid - didn't know FMU had a Youtube channel. Never met the guy in the vid - Wojtek usually works on my Bentley and Phaeton.

Yes, when I asked who did the work, OJ said that he did all of it himself, since it was such a detective job, he didn't want to run up the hours, so he took the project on personally.

 

You know I bet between the two of us we've referred at least a half dozen new clients to FMU....

Funny part of the video is that the car they feature out front is someone else's, mines blue. But the repair is my car, you can tell by the paint.

Johnny you are really a treasure around here. You've saved me a bunch of money.

And…knock on wood, but I have zero mechanical issues, nothing wrong, absolutely perfect car. My only minor complaint now is that the vacuum pump is too loud, I replaced it for being loud and this one is loud, so I assume it's just the way it's bolted to the car that transmits the sound. Other than that, the car is in tip-top shape.
