New member here just starting a project build. Bought a 2005 GT some years ago with the intent of racing it and we are finally getting around to stripping the car down and getting ready for the build. Ive been ghosting the forum for a little bit and thought it might be fun to start a thread on it...if that interested anyone?
Where we started...
...and where we are
Cage is next on the docket once we get through a side project. We are currently pulling a potential drivetrain from a donor vehicle.
Very interesting project, curious what you're doing to the powerplant. I know they had an upgraded turbo kit at one point but outside of tuning haven't heard people doing much. Also, I would be interested in where you also get your parts from, especially if you are doing carbon body panels.
To be honest, our intent with the drivetrain was to replace it entirely. The weight of the engine/trans for its output is just too high to be retained. I dont know the exact numbers we are talking about (Ive heard rumours the drivetrain could weigh up to 1400lbs...moving the engine/trans on dollies is like pushing a building around the shop), but we need to cut it down substantially. We would like the car to come in around the 2500lb range (or less) when complete. No small task.
The plan is to cage the car with new engine/suspension/dif points from tube. Body will be created from carbon in-house by taking moulds of the existing structures and then adding on to the moulds as required. We need fairly aggressive aero to get where we want to go.
Potential drivetrains at the moment include mid-engine-engineering a Nissan VQ or Chevrolet LS3 or even using a Honda K20Z3...all with forced induction. There are still many questions that need answering before we get to the decision, but we do have all of these drivetrains at our disposal.
Can anyone reading this thread tell me what model of wheel we have on our Bentley? They are 20", 7 spoke oem wheels. I see some ads mentioning Mulliner. I want to post them for sale, but I dont know enough about them and cant seem to find reference for them online.
Hello @Level 6 ,
I believe that those are standard non-Mulliner one piece wheels off a Flying Spur, I will get you some pictures, or a listing for same.
Thank you very much for your help in identifying those. I really appreciate it! I wanted to make sure that I had the identification correct that way I could sell them.
We are trying to sell as much of the car as possible to recoup the expense of the build, so every bit helps.
Sure do! We did our best to carefully disassemble the car for future part out. Unfortunately, I cant post a for sale thread yet as I dont have enough posts. Which computer did you need?...can you post a photo and part number?
