Window & waist chrome trim

Hi there, a couple of trim questions for you:

1) I want to remove the trim in yellow for some paint correction. The manual suggests you just lever it up but it seems pretty stuck. How does it come off & (more importantly) does it go back on again easily without taking half the car apart?

2) The trim in blue has a broken front clip so I purchased a new pair of clips from the usual supplier thinking this would be an easy fix. Having removed the strip various bits of old rubber fell out. Even with the new clips on the trim comes off far too easily.
Are these new non OE clips the problem? Is the rubber meant to have adhesive both sides and do the majority of the ‘holding on’?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Tim

Hello Tim @the rookie ,
The trim in blue is held on with two way tape from the factory, the clips basically do nothing but act as a guide when installing the molding, so be sure to line up and mark the molding for the clip area before applying the new double sided tape.

....

As far a the window surround trim, the lower portion is pressed onto the window seal and is removable, the curved piece has the clip, and a screw at the top, which means removing the interior panel.

Lower window trim removed with the complete one piece seal/gasket.

Thank you Johnny super useful! That explains the bits of rubber that dropped out.

Do you think it will be feasible to reinstall the trim in yellow without taking the seal off the car? I don’t want to get into something I can’t get out of!!

Thanks again
