gt 2005 - weak gps
hi,
Ive realised the car is like faraday cage - have to buy gps antenna-repeater.
anyone did that already?
- want to have it powered only when car is ignition on.
is there any wiring in the central low console with power on ignition on? i placed gps repeater there.
originally Ive planned to use the cigar socket power cable but it is alive even when i do ignition off - dont want to drain my battery.
btw was sitting in the car for 30mins after turning the car off - many instruments go to sleep butthe cigar socket was still powered

ok, so I checked the electric diagrams, and it looks like the cigar plug in my GT is always powered per design.
Unfortunatellty I am not so good at reading the electric diagrams to find alternative wire somewhere in central console which gets power only on ignition on (or engine running) - so my question is still actual - if anyone who plays with electrics here could support me, I would be grateful.
BTW - did the dry runs, and GPS works beautifully now - ive put external antena under the back bumper, internal receiver (and transmitter) located under the central console trim and from there distributes the signal correctly.
Hope it will work well in a wild. If anyone have suspicion that GPS does not work ok in his car, suggest to use GPS test app on android, and you will see how fast the signal is dead and you have NOFIX location indicator.
