Just getting ready to replace my steering rack on an 05 Continental gt the parts list shows a grease part No G052168A1 a lot of the UK suppliers show as out of stock and the couple which have stock are charging what seems an excessive amount for a 10g tube, the remnants of the grease on the replacement second hand rack looks to be a high content molybdenum disulphide grease which I've got plenty off. Just wondering if anyone could confirm this before I fit the new rack gaiters.
Many thanks Chris
Hi Thanks for the Information, that brand does not seem to be freely available here in the UK but I've now got some of the same grade specification and will get on with the rack replacement in the next few days, I've also been waiting 2 weeks for some new rack gaiters due to probably the most incompetent courier company in the UK.
Many Thanks Chris.
Hello @TimeforaTee1 ,
Just out of curiosity, where does this grease get applied, the steering tube to the column, or elsewhere.
As I had read the removal and replacement instructions, and nowhere does it mention the grease, but, as I believe you stated above, it is shown in the parts diagram.
Hi Johnny, As you say there are no instructions, I just used a little common sense and "monkey see monkey do" logic and put a light smear on the rack teeth and the inner tie rod ***** as that's where there was some grease, just a light application as the genuine grease comes in 10g tubes so I'd assume that's enough for one rack?
Regards Chris.
