I purchased a 2012 Mulsanne in May 2022. I drove the car for about a week and used the paddle shifters for the first time . Then an Orange shifter unlock button warning light appeared in the center screen in the dashboard. The Orange warning light has an exclamation point with a dashes encircling the !

My Ross Tech VCDS shows "Address 81: Gear Shift (J587) Labels: 3Y0-927-731.clb Part No SW: 3Y0 927 731 A." 4.9 V

Has anyone had this problem? How did you clear the code. Any advice to solve the problem would be greatly appreciated too. Thank you.

I thought that I had responded back in September on this same issue in your other thread, but I don't see it...

So, here it is again, the 2010 to 2013 Audi A8L/W12 had the same issue according to customer complaints, there was/is a software update to the shifter control module (81), whereas the software version changes from version 81, to version 83, it would be interesting to see your software version, so, could you post a screenshot of all of the RT VCDS information as shown in the Audi A8L W12 screenshot below, I would also check in with your local Bentley dealership for the status of any such software update for your Mulsanne.

See attached TSB for Audi A8L W12 shifter issue.

Sorry for the scrambled message. I'm using my MacBook in a windows world and an old Acer AspreM windows (for the VCDS Scan) to try to answer your post.

The car runs and drives like everything is OK except for the Orange gear and !. The message that comes on the dash when you first start the car in in the photo below. The file from the scan is also attached.

I read the technical memo for the Audi you attached? The Mulsanne has a very similar message to the Audi message.

Was the Audi scan you posted done with the engine running?

I attached the entire last scan from my VCDS files.

Wow, I just spent a few hours today looking at the amount of work you did to resurrected your Bentley and I did not even finish. I'll have more time tomorrow to finish. You have truly set the bar above the highest rung. I must congratulate your perseverance and all around mechanical and electrical skills. Very nice clean work. I used to sew my seat covers and carpets on my MGAs, MGBs, Migets, and Triumph seats on an old treadle sewing machine with a rounded leather drive band but, you Sir make that look like child's play. with this Bentley. Thank you for your documentary.

JJ, This is the Bentley Technical Service Bulletin I mentioned I had found last year regarding the 8HP-90 transmission control module. It is similar to the Audi file you attached earlier.
