I've done quite a few HID retrofits over the years and taking headlights apart for replacing their internals is nothing new to me.
Now, the OEM HID xenons of my FS are slightly aged. The pattern is a bit fuzzy and this is typical to modules with faded reflectors. So they're due for replacement. Instead of simply getting a pair of new headlights, which is stupid expensive, I'm now researching the possibility to take them apart and replace the bixenon modules in them. I just don't have a clue what type of modules the OEM:s are, what's their bolt pattern, what are their dimensions and so on.
Can anyone help me with this? I've used a few E46-R -type modules with fantastic success in the past and if these are compatible, the problem is solved. I could just figure out this myself by pulling them apart, but I'd much rather have a set of replacement modules at hand when i do it.
I might put together a DIY-upgrade thread afterwards. Modern bixenon modules are way brighter than 10+ year old OEM:s were when they were new - and bi-led modules aren't bad either - so this is all about functionality.
Come on. Someone MUST have a broken headlamp or some kind of information about this. The bolt pattern and seating depth are crucial information for this. I assume it's a Hella unit, but there are a few compatible options out there, some with better light pattern and output.
Any help is much appreciated, even a photo of a broken headlight (from behind) will help.
Here's an example, only taken from the "wrong" side in order to figure out the mounting requirements of the modules themselves. This is just about the best picture I could find online and unfortunately it's not good enough.
