purchase questions
Considering a pre-owned Continental GT (coupe), I would be looking at the the first runs of the last refresh - so a 2020 or 2021 model. Was wondering whether any members had comments on how they purchased their cars. I notice there aren't too many of these at the Bentley dealers, from cargurus I see a lot of them seem to make their way to 3rd party "luxury" used cars dealers. I often wonder how they get there, do cars like this go through Manheim? You would think pre-owned cars like this are mostly traded in at Bentley or other luxury car dealers, I wonder why those dealers don't just resell them off their lots and instead send them to auction. Does Bentley have a CPO warranty offering for a car not purchased at one of their dealers? Any other comments would be helpful, thanks.
I think we'll start to see more of the '20 & '21's popping up as three year leases expire and the cars are returned. The best ones get a CPO warranty and are sold by Bentley dealers. I picked up a '20 Bentayga with 18K miles for my wife that had come off lease at the local Bentley dealer with a 1 year bumper-to-bumper warranty. Sometimes people will trade them at other dealers rather than return them if the true trade-in value is better than the lease residual which is how some end up at other dealers. I bought my '16 GT from the Jaguar/LR dealer in Sarasota after they took it in trade. I bought my previous GT, an '09, from the Ferrari dealer in Ft. Lauderdale where it was traded. I think some dealers that take the trades-ins don't have enough demand for Bentleys so they put them in the auctions or may even have arrangements with the exotics dealers.
