Bentayga Low Oil

My 2020 Bentayga V8 showed the oil level bar at the bottom(maybe 25%) but it didn’t actually show up as a warning or anything. The car has had an oil change in November and has only been driven 2,500 miles since. It doesn’t look like it’s leaking as the level has been the same for a while now. Should I get it topped off or is this normal? The car has 8,500 miles.

It might sound like a daft question, but you didnt start the engine cold then stop and check the level.
Cold oil doesn't drain down to the sump quickly until warm. Of you were a little low to start with it will look even lower??

No the engine was fully warm and it shows the same reading everyday. Especially in the app, it shows 12.5% when cold and 25% when warm. But there are no actual warnings or anything saying that the oil is low.

@Dgeedhar ,
These readings are taken without the engine running, correct ?
I really wish the newer vehicles stayed with a physical dip-stick, my Supersports engine has a dip-stick, as does my A8L W12, along with my S600 TT, but my new to me Range Rover L405 Autobiography LWB has none, and you must wait 15-20 minutes after shutting down the engine to wait for the dash to show an actual reading.

Your 12.5% and 25% is very concerning !

Johnny

@Dgeedhar ,
Wait a minute, I think that we may be reading this wrong, isn't this reading the percentage of a quart ?
Therefore, you will have no warning light until you are a quart low, or two, as IIRC, the W12 in my Audi A8L had a two quart low warning, as it holds 13.5 quarts, same with the Bentley W12 I believe, but I have never seen the warning, as I changed it before even using a quart.

Your V8 holds 10 quarts.

Johnny

Hello @Dgeedhar ,
My friend Jason thinks that the 2020 Bentayga V8 may be a 1.5 quart low warning, but not 100% on that, do you have an owners manual for it, if so, what does it explain for the level gauge ?

Sorry for the late response now the oil level is even lower. On the app it shows 0% and it shows just a little bit in the display screen. There is still no low oil light. Also in the manual it doesn’t show anything about oil level or percentage.

Add 2 quarts....nothing wrong with the system. All the display is, is a virtual dip stick......you aren't going to get a low oil light....yet . As to why the system is low, that's another question.....maybe?

To be fair you are over thinking. Call your service writer and ask. Be careful they like to change money for nothing. 😏

I was planning on just adding 1 or 2 quarts myself at home as I don’t want to drive 30 miles just for this. I don’t know the type of oil this uses. Can anyone suggest? I saw on the Lamborghini Urus forum that this was a common issue and that this engine just consumes a lot of oil. Like you said, I don’t think it’s actually a low oil light, but if it goes below 2 quarts then it might come on. Please suggest the type of oil.

I believe the 4.0 petrol is Mobil 1: 0w-20. However what did they use on the last servic? That query is more important.

The car only has 9k miles. When I got it, it had 5k. And I believe that the oil change was done in November. Are you sure it’s 20 oil? I thought it was 40. Will check the manual to be sure

Manual is good...but doesn't matter if the last service was a different grade than the manual. Maybe time to get a full service oil change so you know what's in the engine and for peace of mind.
