Residual pressure valve.

Hi,
Does any one know if our GT's air suspension has residual pressure valves.
Apparently they stop the air spring from fully deflating in the event of a compressor failure or broken air line.
If not they can be bought to fit in line to each suspension air bag.

Hello @Frank ( Sunnyside ) ,
Yes, we have them, just like the A8L has, but, in my experience with 3 A8L's, and my GT, and the many read about online, or the few at my buddies shop, not once, has the residual valve ever held any amount of air pressure in the bag/bladder, it didn't matter if I removed the air line from the strut itself, or if I removed the air line from the valve block, the strut would be completely depleted of air, so, this residual pressure valve that is there to supposedly keep the strut/suspension from bottoming out if a line fails, is hogwash to me, as from what I recall, the residual valve is to hold back about 3 bar / 44 psi always, but if that were the case, why would my A8L or GT fall to the ground with air lines disconnected or valve block removed, these residual valves seem to hold nothing back, I had the same on both A8L's while replacing front suspension items, vented the struts to release pressure on the control arm, installed new suspension pieces, and the vehicle was on the ground, no residual pressure at all.

Thanks Johnny.
That sort of answered that question .
I have also found an adaptor that has a shreider valve and 6mm push on tube connector on ebay. This one goes directly into the connector on the strut. You use your electric tyre inflator to inflate the spring bag.
I think priced at about £9 to £10 UKPS.
The tube going back to the valve block can have a blank fitted at either the strut end or compressor end to stop the compressor continually trying to pressurise a burst tube.
I suppose 4 shreider devices could be used in case of total valve block failure or compressor failure. They would get you home especially if your way out from any help??

Yes, if compressor or valve block failure on the road, one could always pull the fuse, and install schrader valves, I did it many years ago on a Lincoln Mark VIII, put two people in the car for load, filled each with bag with air, and drove it like that, yes, it was I tad high with no one in the vehicle, but it rode fine.
