my ‘07 CGT has power open/close on the boot lid. As anticipated, it doesn’t quite operate as it should. I’ve listed the faults and my findings;
The lid powers open on the driver’s door switch, the remote key, and the B button on the exterior of the lid. However, it was a bit jerky and didn’t seem to open up as much as it should.
The lid powers closed on all of the above, but the Boot Close button on the interior of the lid does nothing, although the illumination works.
When the lid is powered closed, it gets near to the fully closed position but then opens again. If I press it down for the last few millimetres of travel, it closes fully and latches shut. However, the right side doesn’t sit fully flush to the rear quarter panel. I can see some missing paint above the bolt closest to the window, as if it’s rubbed off.
So, my findings so far…
Looking at the 2 gas struts, they appear to be different makes. I sourced new items from FlyingSpares and fitted them. I noticed that one was about 10mm shorter on full extension than the other. All the jerkyness is now gone, and the lid opens fully.
I took the Boot Close switch out of the lid and tested it. It has a 4 pin connector, pins 2 and 3 are for the switch contact, 1 and 4 are for illumination. There was no continuity between pins 2 and 3 when pressed. A brand new genuine replaced from FS is currently UKŁ140 - not paying that for a switch. I opened it up to investigate further…
As you can see, the little plunger near the top of the microswitch appears to be missing or pushed right in. That’ll be the issue then! A quick search reveals this…
An exact replacement microswitch, readily available, for the princely sum of UKŁ5. Four solder joints and I imagine the problem will be solved. Might be worth bearing in mind when you’re presented with a 3 figure repair bill.
I’ll be repositioning the hinge mechanism in the coming days so I’ll report back with the result.

Thanks for the information.
My boot switch is temperamental.But untill it fails I don't fancy taking it apart.
Got my switch today, soldered it in and it works perfectly. Be sure to get the one without a lever. Not sure if this eBay link will work but if not, a google search on the details in the photo I posted above should yield results.
