CEL after winter storage
I am going to order the boards and since I don't have a smoke machine, bring it to and Indy for the smoke test. How much does a decent smoke machine cost?
What about trying to install a piece of insulating mat under the egt? I am thinking a 1/4 inch thick mat material made for high temps. It should provide some thermal insolation between the egt and the engine.

I stated B up today and I could not feel any misfires and the CEL was off. After I got back I removed the air filter box to look at the wires to see their condition. They all looked in pretty good shape. When I was replacing the air filter housing I noticed that there were 2 rubber washers on the air filter box pipe that got inserted into the turbo intake pipe. If the rubber washers did not form a good seal, would a leak there cause any of misfires on that bank? There is a sensor in the air filter box that is upstream of where the box is inserted into the turbo intake. A leak at the joint would cause extra air to be sucked in after the sensor. It seems to me these washers would be a good replacement candidate if it would make a difference. I also looked up the scan when I bought the car back in June 2024 And the same fault codes (Bank 1 egt and misfires on the first 6 cylinders) but I did not have the CEL until recently. I Ordered the boards today and am having the smoke test done this week.

@Bigdog63 ,
Yes, that is the funnel seal I was referring to in my previous comment, any air leaking passed that seal would be seen as false air (vacuum leak), therefore the A/F ratio measurements between the MAF and the O2 sensors would be out of range, but you do not have a lean issue fault code for O2 sensors as of yet, I am wondering if the short to ground fault on the EGT sensor is causing an electrical issue with the 6 coils that are all having mis-fires.

Thanks Johnny. I ordered the boards yesterday from Sid. I figured I would get 2 to have a spare. I also ordered a smoke machine. Probably try it out next weekend. I may also look for a high watt small tip soldering iron. It looks like the soldering will be a little tedious.
As always, thanks for your advice.

I have only driven the car a few times since may and there was no issue with the idle and no CEL. Unfortunately I went to take her out this past weekend and had rough idle when the engine was warming up then the CEL came on and the engine ran smoothly. Luckily I had purchased a smoke generator and decided it was time to do the smoke test. I did see smoke coming up on the passenger side between the firewall and the heatshield. Nothing on the upper tubes or on the left side. I could not see which pipe was leaking. My car is a late 2006 and has the valve under the B cover which from what I understand, means that the lines over the transmission issue was addressed. I am going to take the car to my indy and was wondering if leaks in the pipes near the firewall require the engine out or can they be repaired with the engine in place. I was going to use a scope device to see if I can determine which pipe is leaking but it was late on Sunday and I decided to put her back together to get her to the indy.
Any idea if this is definitely an engine out job? I also read that if I keep depressing the brake pedal on start up the vacuum pump will come on and provide vacuum until the engine is warmed up and the O2 sensors take over. Is there any truth to that?
Thanks,
Pete
