Pesky OIL Leak

Hi all.
Can any one point me in the right direction.
I have an oil a leak dripping slowly even when parked on my Gt Time Attack car from bank 1 rear. It drips onto the starter and then onto everything underneath .
I thought it was going to be the cam cover but I have removed the filters and plenum and camera scoped everywhere.
Does anyone have experience of an unidentified oil leak. Its too far back from the crank ventilation, turbos and oil cooler and too high up. Right on top of the starter motor as far as I can tell.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Untill I find and stop this leak I won't be allowed on the race track for safety reasons. To be honest I smells in the car when the engine gets hot so I fontcwant to drive it at the moment.
Thanks for any help.
Frank.

Hi Frank,
Are you sure it is 100% engine oil, not cooling, tranny fluid, steering fluid ?

If the valve covers are not leaking, how about either of the camshaft position sensors, there are 2 at the rear of each head, that may run down and drip onto the starter, the only issue is, your comment of it leaking even when not running, for how long does it leak after shutdown, as the engine crankcase would have no pressure to force oil out from a high location, BUT, the coolant system will be under pressure for a long time, and may have a small leak in a hose squirting coolant to the area.

Just thinking with my fingers, well, thumbs...

Johnny

Good morning Johnny.
Johnny. Its been a issue since getting the car. There is z smell of hot oil on bank one side.
Oil drips ever so slowly off yhe starter motor. The top of the starter and solonoid is soaked.
I would say there is a small drip in to the catch tray i have placed under the car( windsge tray removed) every 5 or 10 minutes.
so over a long period of time it looks like a reasonable 6 inch patch on the tray..
Definitely engine oil.
So.
I also found bank 2 cylinder 3 plug tube 1/3 full of oil so the cam cover gaskets are suspect.
I can't put my hand on heart and say bank 1 gasket isn't leaking.
I will change them both and tube seals. This might offer up better visual of that area.
Its got to becoming from above the exhaust as it vapourised wirh heat. The cyclinder head gasget is below the exhaust as are any other pipes. At the moment im working on the therory the leak is above the exhaust manifold. That beeing the only thing above that is the cam cover??
I'm ordering an even smaller boroscope 3.5mm to see if I can get better visual on it.
Have you ever heard of a cam cover that leaks and not just sweat oil??
Frank.
