KWV3 and BBS LM, 8.5x18 and 9.5x18, currently running Toyo R888s.

Does anyone know a permanent fix to stop the diff tearing the car apart. Ive heard of the Butt Strut, various bushings but what can be done?

Mine is in for some major surgery soon.

Quote: Last question, are there many S52 powered M coupes running around with forced induction or is that too much power for such a small wheelbase car?
How about 726-hp?

And 465-hp...

So there are definitely some fast ones roaming the streets. My dad has an '01 Z3 Coupe 3.0i with 8,600 miles that I've been trying to convince him to sell, since he never drives it.

Contact a gentleman by the name of Randy Forbes, he is based in Ohio. He sells a kit that you weld in to reinforce the rear and changes from a single ear diff cover to a dual ear diff cover from an E36 M3, the difference that it made in my car was amazing. I did take me about 50 hours of labor to install on my own, but I have heard that you can send it to body shops and have then install it for around $2500.

Quote: I have heard from numerous people that the M coupe was the best handling car BMW ever built, but also, required the most ***** to drive fast.
Very true. The rear suspension had a hard time putting down stock power - you really need to have lots of skill to drive close to the limit.

It was a rewarding car to drive and own. After that, my brother's 500whp 993TT with no traction control feels very safe

I don't know what you are talking about.... I have never spun my car when pushing it.... Seriously though,, it is fairly twitchy, I have been told that a butt strut and IR Engineering subframe bushing will make it handle like a different car

The S54 makes significantly more power up top over the S52. If you drive at a 9/10ths rate with traction control off it gets loose, particularly below 60 and on bumpy surfaces under power. Even the first owner of my old MC who is a track genius (http://www.dpcars.net/) has spun it several times.

So while the MC doesn't spin on its own, stable handling wouldn't be its forte and that willingness to change direction is precisely what makes it exciting to drive. If you've never gotten it loose before find a parking lot and try it out. You'll see what I mean

They're fun cars for sure.

I'm pretty sure that there are 680 of the s54 cars in the us, and give or take 2000 of the s52 cars out there

Although mine is not the original z3 m coupe I longed for in high school I think my z4 m coupe has the same hooligan character as the original m coupe. I was thinking of purchasing a 02 s54 m coupe last year when I bought my z4 m coupe but since I am still in college I need a car with a warranty. One day I will add a Phoenix yellow 02 M coupe to my garage!

here are some pics of my z4...
