BMW Aplina b7

Had the rare chance of putting a few miles on a B7 this afternoon. I am at awe with this car. Couldn't ask anything else from a luxury car. I would like to ask those out their that have driven one or an S65 AMG to add some insight comparing the two. (experienced comments, no day dreamers) To me I would jump all over this B7 if I could and wouldn't even look back at the S65.. I took one phone pic of it, if interested I can post it.

PS. Sorry, obviously I am still stunned with the B7 that I can not spell correctly! ALPINA!!!

Drove an Alpina, almost traded M5 in for it. Glad I didn't

We've owned an S65 before and an S63 now and I would take each of those cars gladly over the B7.

S63- Faster, smoother, more amenities, bigger, not an old engine, not an old body

S65- Absolutely no comparison. They better do some serious work to the B7 to get it on that level. In fact, it will never be on the same level as the S65 in ANY category.

If you think about it, any Merc model with the letters AMG and number 65 is automatically a rocket ship. The 65 dominates on straight acceleration regardless how much it weighs, renntech, kleeman, brabus provide ample amounts of juice if needed.

I have had 6 7 series BMWs and this last time my dealer offered me a B7. When it arrived I was less than impressed. A few cosmetic differences to my 760, under the hood supercharger and intercooler looked good. Drive was not much different from my 760 so I passed. I went to an AMS S63 and unless BMW comes up with something VERY exciting I will not leave AMG as my daily driver.

How did the B7 compare to the M5?? My neighbor has a black B7, im thinking of racing him for pink slips but want to know what I am up against....

No, it won't...

The B7 is deceivingly fast. It's not nearly as raw as the M5, though, which leads people to believe it's "slower".

Yeah, you're wrong. The Alpina is a very, very fast car. Although the HP figures are nearly identical and the Alpina is heavier, it's torque is massive in comparison to the M5 (383 ft/lb vs. 507 ft/lb). I'd be willing to bet it would stay even, if not pull.
